My Story
My journey to becoming a psychotherapist began after a 24-year career in pastoral care within education, where I worked closely with children, young adults, and their families in lead advocacy and supportive roles. During the pandemic, I realised I might be better suited to working with adults, leading me to pursue a Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University.
Personally, I had resisted therapy due to stereotypes and stigmas surrounding it, believing it was only for those in crisis. However, as I faced life's challenges, I gave therapy a try, and it dissolved those misconceptions to become a transformative experience. Therapy continues to positively impact all areas of my life.
Drawing on my extensive background in pastoral care, personal therapy experiences, and formal training, I am committed to helping others navigate their paths to healing and self-discovery.

Why the Rooted Shed
I liken the therapeutic journey to like bringing out long forgotten or ignored boxes from a shed and unpacking them. Some boxes will be heavy, and at times, you may only manage a quick peek. We'll set those aside for when you're ready to dive deeper. Other boxes we'll sift through extensively, possibly discarding the contents entirely. And others we'll carefully organise simplifying for better clarity. This process of unpacking and understanding represents our path to achieving balance in our minds. I believe that therapy is a powerful tool for fostering growth, balance, and harmony in our lives, much like creating hygge for our inner selves.
